Theta Chi Philanthropy

Box Lunch Social
Theta Chi has established the “Box Lunch Social” as its large annual philanthropy. In this event, Theta Chi undergraduates buy and prepare a box lunch that is then bid on by girls from participating sororities. The sorority with the most total money bid is declared the winner and receives the Box Lunch Trophy. There are also various outdoors games that go along with the event, dependant on how the weather turns out. The money raised from this event goes to benefit “Alternatives to Violence on the Palouse,” an organization started to help local victims of violence and abuse.

Other Events
Throughout the year we also have various other smaller philanthropies including a Christmas party for local youth, Valentine’s Day party for local nursing homes, tutoring for local elementary students, mentoring for local students with troubled backgrounds, as well as multiple efforts with “Palouse Clearwater Environmental.” In addition, we do different philanthopy events for Homecoming and Greek Week, including the Canned Food Castle Competition for Greek Week in the spring semester '05.

The Dynamics
Philanthropy is a large part of the Epsilon Kappa Chapter’s focus on campus. As such, we have a clear definition of how the committee should be run, so as to promote an establishing of tradition and a smooth transition from chairman to chairman.
